Building Stability Through Housing and Community

At Solar Club™, sustainability means investing in solutions that create long-term stability for both people and the planet. That is why we are proud to share a $10,000 donation to the Homes for Heroes Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting Canadian veterans through safe, stable housing and comprehensive wraparound services.

Homes for Heroes takes a holistic approach to addressing veteran homelessness by recognizing that housing is only the first step. Their villages provide not just a place to live, but a supportive community where veterans can access mental health services, peer support, employment assistance, and pathways to reintegration. A powerful example of this work can be found right here in our community through the ATCO Veterans’ Village in Calgary, a beautiful tiny home village developed in partnership with ATCO. This innovative project demonstrates what is possible when businesses and community organizations come together with a shared purpose, creating dignified housing and meaningful support for veterans as they rebuild their lives.

This work closely reflects Solar Club’s broader view of sustainability. Sustainable communities are built when people have access to stable housing, strong support systems, and opportunities to move forward with confidence. Just as investing in renewable energy strengthens Alberta’s energy future, investing in organizations like Homes for Heroes strengthens the social infrastructure that allows communities to thrive for generations.

The Solar Club’s foundation is based on a story written by Nobel Peace Laureate Wangari Maathai. The belief in doing what we can infuses every action we take with meaning, and extends to this donation to the Homes for Heroes Foundation.

This donation is part of Solar Club’s ongoing commitment to creating meaningful, lasting impact across Alberta. We encourage you to learn more about Homes for Heroes and the important work they do in supporting veterans and their families, and to consider donating if you are able. As Solar Club continues to grow, so will our ability to support organizations that are building stronger, more resilient communities. Stay tuned for future community investments, and thank you for being part of a movement that is helping to create a more sustainable and inclusive future for the places we live, work, and call home.
